Duplicate a tournament

Use the Clone Tournament action to copy an existing tournament's settings, structure, and branding when running a repeat or similar event.

Duplicating (called Clone Tournament in the product) is the fastest way to set up a new event that follows the same format as one you have already run. The copy starts in draft state so you can adjust dates and details before publishing.

Where to find it

Projects → [Your Project] → Tournaments → [Tournament] → Overview (click Clone Tournament, next to Capture as Template and Settings)

Step by step

  1. Open the tournament you want to copy and go to its Overview page.
  2. Click Clone Tournament. There is no equivalent action in Settings or on the tournament list page — Overview is the only place to start a clone.
  3. A confirmation dialog appears. It has no name field or other options — confirming clones the tournament as-is.
  4. Click Clone Tournament in the dialog to confirm.
  5. The new tournament is created in draft state inside the same project, named "{original name} (Clone)".
  6. Open the new tournament and update:
    • Tournament name and slug (Settings → General)
    • Tournament dates
    • Registration open and close dates
    • Any settings that differ from the original event
  7. When ready, publish the tournament.

Cloning copies the entire tournament record — general settings, registration settings, and branding (logo and banner) all carry over automatically. There's no option to selectively include or exclude any of them.

What to review after duplicating

  • Registration dates — these are not automatically adjusted and will likely need updating.
  • Prize configuration — verify prize amounts are correct for the new event.
  • Participant list — the duplicated tournament starts with no participants; registrations open fresh.
  • Structure — participants placed in the original event are not copied; placement happens fresh after registrations close.

Cloning vs. templates

Clone Tournament makes a one-off draft copy for immediate use. If you plan to reuse a tournament's settings, structure, and branding repeatedly across many future events, capture it as a template instead — the Capture as Template action sits next to Clone Tournament on the Overview page. See Use and manage tournament templates.

What happens next

After adjusting settings, follow the same flow as any new tournament: configure registration settings, place participants, and go live.
