Publish and Go Live

How to move a tournament from draft to registration open so players can find and register for it.

A newly created tournament starts in draft mode. While in draft, the tournament is completely private — it does not appear on the player-facing site, cannot be found through search, and the registration form is inaccessible to participants. Publishing transitions the tournament directly to registration open, making it visible and open to the public.

Where to find it

Navigate to Projects → [Your Project] → [Tournament] — the Publish action is on the tournament overview page.

Step by step

  1. Complete the required settings — Before publishing, confirm that the following are configured: tournament name, game or discipline, start date, registration deadline, and a bracket size (capacity) of at least 2 participants. Incomplete required fields will surface as warnings on the overview page.
  2. Navigate to the tournament overview — Go to Projects → [Your Project] → [Tournament] to open the overview screen.
  3. Click Publish — This transitions the tournament from draft directly to registration open. The tournament page becomes visible on the public player-facing site and the registration form opens to participants.
  4. Verify the public page — Open the public tournament link shown on the overview page and confirm that the name, dates, game, and registration details appear correctly.
  5. Share the registration link — Open the tournament's Share page (its own entry in the tournament navigation, separate from the overview screen) to copy the registration URL, open it in a new tab, post it to Facebook or Twitter, or grab embed code for a registration, schedule, or bracket widget. Distribute this link through your community channels.
  6. Monitor incoming registrations — Once the registration window opens, track sign-ups under Participants → Pending (or All for the complete list). See Manage Registrations for how to review, approve, and decline entries.

There is no way to send a tournament back to draft once it has been published — the transition only goes forward (draft → registration open → registration closed → in progress → completed), with cancellation available as a separate, permanent action at most stages if you need to stop a tournament rather than edit it. If you need to make changes after publishing, edit the tournament's settings directly instead of trying to revert to draft.

What happens next

With the tournament live and registrations coming in, the next steps are managing your participant list and running the event. See Manage Registrations to handle incoming sign-ups, and Check-In to prepare participants for the start of play.
