Registration Settings

How to configure the registration window, auto-approval, waitlist, fees, eligibility rules, and legal terms for a tournament.

Registration settings control when and how participants can sign up for your tournament. From a single settings page you can set the open and close window, automate approvals, enable a waitlist, collect entry fees, define eligibility rules, and require registrants to accept your terms.

Where to find it

Navigate to Projects → [Your Project] → Tournaments → [Tournament] → Settings → Registration.

The page has three sections: Registration settings, Eligibility rules, and Custom fields. It is not split into separate tabs — everything below appears on the same page.

Registration settings

  1. Enable registration — Turn registration on to allow participants to sign up. While it is off, the registration form is hidden from the public tournament page.

  2. Set the registration start date — Choose the date and time when registration becomes available to participants.

  3. Set the registration end date — Choose the date and time when registration automatically closes. After this point, new sign-ups are blocked unless the waitlist is enabled (see below).

  4. Enable auto-approval (optional) — When turned on, every incoming registration is approved automatically without manual review. Leave this off if you want to review and approve each participant individually.

  5. Enable the waitlist (optional) — When registration is full or closed, new sign-ups are placed on a waitlist instead of being blocked outright. You can then promote waitlisted entrants later if a spot opens up.

Note that a tournament's bracket capacity is set separately, on the General settings tab (the Size field). Once a tournament has more approved entrants than its bracket size, additional entrants go to a reserve bench rather than being blocked — see Manage Registrations for how the reserve bench and promotion flow work.

  6. Configure registration fees — Enable fees if this is a paid tournament, then set the entry fee amount and currency. Players are prompted to pay before their registration is confirmed. When fees are enabled, also choose a payment mode:

    • Platform-managed — payments are processed through the platform's own payment account.
    • Organizer's own gateway — payments are routed to your connected payment gateway account (for example, a Stripe Connect account). Enter your gateway account ID here. If your project has not yet connected a payment gateway, you'll see a warning with a link to your project's Payment settings to complete that setup first.
  7. Set legal terms (optional) — Require participants to accept terms before they can register:

    • Terms URL — a link to your rules, code of conduct, or terms of service.
    • Terms text — terms shown inline on the registration form, if you'd rather not link out.
    • Version — a version label (for example, v1.0) so you can track which version a registrant accepted. Update this whenever you change your terms.

Eligibility rules

Use this section to restrict who is allowed to register:

  • Country restriction — Restrict registration by country using an allow-list or a block-list of country codes.
  • Age restriction — Require a minimum age, and optionally a maximum age, with a custom message shown to registrants who don't meet it.
  • Game account / rank requirement — Require registrants to meet a minimum rank tier for a specific game.
  • Rule visibility — Choose whether the eligibility rules are shown publicly on the registration page or kept hidden from participants.
  • Custom failure message — Write a message shown to registrants who don't meet one or more eligibility rules.

Custom fields

If you need to collect extra information from registrants, use Custom Fields to add questions to the registration form directly from this page.

What happens next

Once registration is open and participants start signing up, manage them under Manage Registrations.
